Magnolia’s Tale:

Mother Nature’s divine & a subtle history collide

Back to Poetry gallery

Oaks still in the ancient green: arms been twisting and turning for centuries, even though still life teems

Palmettos gently wave a silent hello to the people far below, though their palms seem to not let go

Walk anyway, in the sea of mossy unknown, now welcomed by hidden gems of love you now know:

Camellias of glossy pink to Azaleas of glorious red: all gleaming like precious gems it seems.

Your heart fills with tranquil grace: Magic abounds in this mysterious wild place divine:

Truly, you say, the beautiful balance of graceful Mother Nature has no sublime.

The heart of the garden is romance you see: for Magnolia is crowned with magic in every space

But, if you humbly look closer you will surrey see, that this Graceful world carries a loving mystery:

Old statues of glory behind flowers of rich royalty, speak of the veiled mystery: the subtle history

Whispers of times of wealth and fame, where southern grace of Drayton’s name pervaded the place.

Southern days of old: Flowers of Jewels, Statues of Status, and Knights of Men to Ladies Fair:

Your heart is taken on a journey, to a mysterious yearning of times of America’s first heirs.

Let your mind feel history, like it’s no more a mystery, have change of the heart: magnolia is a good start!

Go to where Mother Nature holds the key to subtle history: Magnolia: Where Nature meets history

Where the Flowers seem to gleam, where green teems, and history dreams: the magic here is no mystery

Take a journey of a thousand miles, in the garden of romances of a million chances, in romances heart is where to start.

This is Magnolia’s tale where subtle history and Mother Nature’s mystery is heart to heart

And that is just pure art!

This was originally an "Ode" (poetic talk for a tribute ) for Magnolia Plantation & Gardens: A Historic Garden built over the old Southern Drayton plantation in Charleston South Carolina.
When I wrote this I had personally never been to this garden but I have been to another Garden/Old plantation in South Carolina but I did have a good idea of what It looks like
(Since then, I have been there once). Anywho I happened to bump into this contest in 12th Grade(2015) about a poetry contest about this garden so I decided to enter into it: it was to be written in classic 18th century poetic style....so this would be a challenge! Eventually after much though and my past experience with old southern gardens I came up with this beautiful poetic gem of a beauty to attract visitors to Magnolia Gardens .....but sadly it was never excepted and someone else won(so is the way of poetry contests *Tears* ) but atleast now I can share this great gem of my poetic literature on my gallery, hope you enjoy it w00t!!!
